We’re taking a break from our regularly-scheduled Ignite events to present an Ignite-style evening as part of The Eighth Fire by The Aeolian Hall.
The Aeolian and Sunfest present, with generous support from the Cultural Strategic Investment Fund (Ministry of Tourism and Culture): “The Eighth Fire” An Aboriginal Festival Igniting the New Era, February 4th – June 5th, 2011.
The festival is presented in partnership with TD Bank Group, local Aboriginal advisors Dan and Mary-Lou Smoke and The Thames Valley District School Board.
The Eighth Fire is a prophesy which comes from the practitioners of Midewiwin, the Anishinaabeg and the people of Turtle Island. In this prophesy, the people of the world turn away from materialism to a spiritualism. This change ignites a unity of different colours and traditions of human beings on the basis of mutual respect. Environmental and Social catastrophe will be averted and the pathway of respect, wisdom and spirituality will illuminate the world. This New Era will unify environmental, political and socio-economic voices.
On June 5th, Ignite London presentations will be inspired by the teachings of The Eighth Fire. Speakers are asked to reflect on the prophesy of The Eighth Fire and to speak to the idea of living in a new way—environmentally, socio-economically and politically. Speakers can also choose to highlight a specific Aboriginal Teaching or belief as part of their presentation. The focus of each talk should be to inspire and education, not on promotion of one’s business.
